Blackboard Learning Modules

How do I fix/enable my Java (computer) problem???

I keep getting this message when I try to sign onto my school’s online course,

“Java™ Check
It appears you are using Java 2 Runtime Environment version 1.5.0_02 (Sun Microsystems Inc.). This version is not validated for use with the Blackboard Learning System.

Some tools, such as Chat, Who’s Online, HTML Creator, WebEQ™ Equation Editor, My Computer, and SCORM® modules may not function without Java.”

I’ve already done what they’ve said, I downloaded it. How do I download the right version that’s compatible with “blackboard learning”. Where can i download it for free?? please, I need it for school, I feel like i’ve done everything it specifies and it still doesn’t work.

I have a pc by the way.

thanks

Enabling Java is easy.
Internet Explorer 6 & 7
1. Click Tools
2. Click Internet Options at the bottom
3. Click the Advanced tab
4. Find Java (Sun)
5. Click Use JRE 1.5.0_02 (requires restart)
6. Restart Internet Explorer

If this doesn’t solve your issue, try this:
Windows XP
1. Click Start
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Add or Remove Programs
4. Uninstall Java
5. Download Java here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
6. Install Java
