What does the term “let your freak flag fly” mean?
I heard it in a couple of different Glenn Hughes(once on one of his solo albums and recently it was in the lyrics of a Black Country Communion song) and wondered what it means
It was a phrase common during the hippie period in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Straight people would refer to hippies as “freaks”, and the hippies then started to call themselves the same thing.
It just means be cool, dont let other people tell you how to live, and do your own thing.
